Javier Vallhonrat was born in Madrid in 1953.

Degree of Fine arts and of Psychology, formed in Gestalt Therapy and Humanistic Integrative Therapy. This artist chooses the photographic medium as its privileged investigation way, exploring its limits as a language, and confronting it with the mediums of painting, video, performance and installation.

Throughout more than three decades, he has developed its work as well as a teaching activity in both private and public institutions of Austria, Belgium, Canada, Spain, France, Finland, Italy, Japan, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

During the last years he has been involved carrying out projects of long duration in particular geoclimatic environments, that he keeps on developing currently.

The work of this artist has been exhibited in numerous museums and institutions worldwide, and it is held in diferent international collections; Museo Reina Sofia de Madrid, Grand Duc Jean of Luxembourg or the Philadelphia Museum ofModern Art, among others.

17 monographs of its work have been published, and his career has been recognized with numerous awards, among which we underline the National Prize of Photography, the Photography Award of the Comunidad de Madrid, the Photography Award of Ayuntamiento de Madrid and the Bartolomé Ros Award of PhotoEspaña.
